Professional Development in the Life Science for 5th grade teachers in the WISE program

Elementary Physical Education Workshop #3

Event Date: Mar 11, 2010

Workshop Objectives:

1. Provide Physical Education curriculum training to elementary school teachers in lessons 30-40 of the district adopted physical education curriculum. The curriculum is Quality Daily Physical Education, by Dr. Robin Reese.

2. The focus of these lessons are creating and absorbing the force of objects, use of force when catching and throwing, catching and throwing with an implement (3-5 grades), foot dribbling, and underhand rolling and catching.

3. Provide strategies and instructional tools to continue teaching physical education.

Participants will be compensated at $30 per hour

Wear loose fitting clothes and athletic shoes

Preparing Your Students for the CST in Mathematics

Event Date: Mar 11, 2010

Teachers will create a plan to more strategically prepare their students for the CST by focusing on mathematical content, testing format, and students’ attitudes toward testing.

All 2^nd-5^th grade teachers are encouraged to attend one of the after-school sessions. Others are welcome to register; however, priority will be given to teachers in tested grade levels. This session may be logged as Prop A passport hours, if pre-approved by your principal. No other monetary compensation is available.
